An Ode to Don, signets sealed
Borden Mines at The Depot
A Tribute in a Sonnet

Emblems of the laurel, oracles;
in this world, strait and narrow was he.
Kyle, fair handsome crowned, chiefly.
A mindful man, compassionate wise.
The leaves at bay, sacred holy.
His forest filled, courageous soldiers;
an airman, orare, the messenger.
Laurel highlands, fire of the son;
soaring with the winds, heavenly.
Hand-holding with his sweet Maggie;
placed upon their pillow, dreams Godward.

In Remembrance of Donald Irvin Kyle 1921-2017, a pilot during WWII, he passed today at 96-years-old. A loving, gentle man, gracious, lively, and wise. He had good bones, a vibrant mind and a big heart; a conversant man, vital, who could delight a child with a whimsical story as easily as untangle an adult worry bringing on a smile. A corporate executive, having pulled up his sturdy bootstraps; roots in a working class, pious home. A true firestone; shined charisma. He was an amazing husband, father and friend. A community minded man, charitable; a witness to and testimony of the grace of God. A man who lived and walked in the spirit; knowing the cornucopia of fruits - love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith.
Rest in His Holy Peace, Uncle Don.
