Karen Lee Burnette, 77, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018. She was a long time resident of Barberton. Karen graduated from East High School in 1958 and the University of Akron in 1962. She began her teaching career at Copley High School, then taught at Springfield High School, retiring from Barberton High School with 29 years of service, where she taught business and was a career counselor. Karen was a Mary Kay consultant for many years and truly enjoyed the friendships she made all over the world and a member and past president of the Barberton Rotary Club. Preceded in death by her niece, Laurie Stevenson. Survived by her husband of 55 years, Marco; sister, Sherry Pettit; brother-in-law, Michael (Patti) Burnette; Karen greatly cared for and was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Debbie (Jeff) Roberts, Shelley (Brian) Wenzel; Aaron Burnette, Ryan (Mandie) Burnette; Teri (Brian) Moats; step-niece, Amy (John) Wyse; along with numerous great-nieces and nephews, and many friends.Karen was a very caring, loving and giving person who always thought of others before herself. She touched the lives of many people over the years, both students and adults.Karen’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Summa Hospice, especially Phil Paleudis and also Becky Bragg from Family Helpers.Karen’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 7th at 10 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Todd McKenney officiating.
