Glada Lorine Phelps

Glada Lorine Phelps, 85, departed this life Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Born September 21, 1932 in Radnor, Ohio she moved to Barberton with her parents in 1945, where she graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1950. Glada was employed by the Barberton Board of Education in 1950 as a secretary, later becoming Clerk-Treasurer and retiring in 1980.For nearly 30 years she taught Senior High and College Sunday School classes at Barberton Friends Church, and would still today encourage her former students to honor God in their lives.  She served on Malone University Board of Trustees for six years.Preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mildred Phelps and brother, Earl Phelps.  Glada is survived by her brother, David (Virginia) Phelps; sister, Jane (Fred) Strandberg; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Phelps; nieces and nephews, Dale (Sarah) Phelps, Gary (Kim) Phelps, Lynn (Jack) Ford, Greg (Laurel) Strandberg and Janet (Joe) Ernest; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece; along with many friends.To Him I trust my soul, my dust, When flesh  and spirit sever;The Christ we sing has plucked the sting Away from death forever. Anon Glada’s funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Vicki Breckner officiating.  Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday February 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Barberton Evangelical Friends Church, 272 Robinson Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
