James Headrick Obituary

James R. (Ronnie) Headrick, 88, was born July 31, 1930 and died Tuesday, July 31, 2018.Jim retired from Babcock and Wilcox with thirty years of service and was president and owner of Headrick Construction/Excavation and H&H Pipe. As a licensed Summit County contractor, Jim constructed over 100 homes and many commercial buildings.Dad enjoyed golf and visiting his home in Florida in the winter with his personal two-hole golf course. He loved his Cleveland Indians, was an excellent billiards player and managed Griffith’s pool hall in his younger years. He was a strong union man and a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party.Jim was known in his early years for his excellence in card (poker) playing and billiards. However, his true joy was working hard and spending time with friends and above all, his family. He transitioned from this world into the next, loved by all of his family members.Preceded in death by his father and mother, Pleas and Mary (Everett) Headrick of Maryville, Tennessee and his eleven siblings.Jim was the youngest of twelve children including three sisters, Pauline, Annabelle, Jeanette and seven brothers, Martin, Raymond, Floyd, Marshall, J.T., Elmer and George.Jim was also preceded in death by his beloved cat, “Thomas”.He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Leona Mae Headrick; daughters, Shirley and (Richard Stephens-deceased), Barb (Bill) Ramsay, Patty (Chris) Neidert and son, James (Manuela) Headrick; grandchildren, Melanie (Ben) Mathieson, David Headrick, Tim (Kaila) Neidert, Matthew Headrick and three great-grandchildren, Mara, Owen and Luca James.Jim loved his extended family which included many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and special nephew, David Headrick and family.Dad was an eleven year survivor of lung cancer.  He was the strongest man we ever knew and he taught us to always take care of “people” before everything else, just like he did all of his life.  Thank you, dad, for everything.  We will love you forever!Jim’s funeral service will be held Friday, August 3rd at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W.
