Joene Hodges, 94, passed away early Sunday morning, January 14, 2018 at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Florida. She was born May 7, 1923 in Spencer, Tennessee and lived most of her life in Barberton and Norton, Ohio, moving to Leesburg, Florida in 2009.  Joene was a graduate of the McKenzie Business College in Chatanooga, TN.  She was employed by the TN Farm Bureau and retired from PPG Industries as Salary Payroll Mistress in 1984.  She also volunteered at Barberton Citizens Hospital for seven years.  She was a faithful member of Barberton Church of Christ and the Orange Avenue Church of Christ in Mt. Dora, Florida. Joene enjoyed writing and reading poetry.  In the summer she enjoyed vegetable gardening, picking and canning vegetables and in the winter she turned to sewing and quilting. She especially enjoyed entertaining and visiting with family and friends, along with feeding them.     Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Guy) McCormack; her dearly loved husband of 56 years, Herman Hodges; son-in-law, Michael Kenna; sisters, Hassie Lee Grissom, Opal Horton, Reba McCormack and Olene McCormack; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bessie and Raymond Hodges, Audrey and Rayborn Yates, Aline and Clyde Measles; sister-in-law, Patti Sue McCormack; brothers-in-law, Charles and Thurman Hodges. Joene is survived by her daughter, Herma Ann Kenna-Fraser (Neil Fraser) of Eustis, Florida; sisters, Sara Cummings of Tennessee and Ava Dean Grant of Nevada; brother-in-law, Carl Paugh; sister-in-law, Imogine Hodges; along with many loved nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.The family would like to extend a special thanks to her “Second Anne” caregiver, Anne Williams. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Joe Starc officiating.  Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Joene’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday (TODAY) from 3 to 6 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Florida 32778.
