Martin R. Harrison

On June 28, 2018, Martin R. (Marty) Harrison, 65, passed away in the arms of his loving partner. He was born July 27, 1952 in Akron.Marty graduated from Copley high school in 1970 and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron in 1975.Marty was employed at Little Forest Medical Center for more than 20 years, serving as administrator for 13. He retired in 1999.He loved his rescue dogs, all four of them and all named Buddie. His favorite vacation was a cruise to celebrate 25 years together with his partner, Michael McCrady. He liked scary movies and TV shows like The Walking Dead and Antiques Roadshow. Marty liked going to Barberton for chicken, especially on his birthday. He also enjoyed spending time with friends. Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mildred (Warnick) Harrison. He is survived by his partner of 28 years Michael McCrady, and his dog Buddie #4. After Marty’s parents passed away the McCrady family adopted him as part of the family, preceded in death by James McCrady (Michael’s father) and survived by Karen McCrady (Michael’s mother); brothers, Tim (Rima), Scott, Brian (Lori) McCrady; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Taylor, Alec, Madison and Travis McCrady. He also is survived by his brother Kenneth Harrison Jr. Marty would want his nieces Grace, Priscilla and Faith to know how much he loved you.Marty would also include his longtime friends as part of his family, Steve Grigas, Charlene Grigas, Sue Bednar and Shirley Smart.The family would like to thank Akron General’s ICU department, the staff on the 5th floor of the hospital and the employees at Green Village for all the care they gave Marty.The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W.
