Surrounding him were his daughter and son in law, Lisa and Chris Englehart, his grandchildren and his great granddaughter.Mike was born in Akron, Ohio on March 7, 1953. He grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School in 1971. Mike was employed at Accent Manufacturing for over 30 years.Mike was known to hundreds of youth athletes as Coach Farmer, having coached multiple baseball, softball, and basketball teams. Most notably was his love of football, having spent over 30 years coaching for Manchester Youth Football. In 2009, the City of New Franklin declared October 10th“Mike Farmer Day” in recognition of his selfless gift of time and dedication to the Manchester Youth Football program. In 2015, Mike was inducted into the Swede Olsson – James R France Hall of Fame at Manchester High School.Mike’s true love and greatest source of pride were his grandchildren. He was the best grandfather any child could ever hope to have. There was no request or favor that he would not grant to his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to support them in their myriad of sporting events, recitals, competitions or school functions. The cliché “they broke the mold after Mike” is truly an understatement. He was “Grandpa Farmer” to not only his own grandchildren but so many of the young people that met him. He had a remarkable ability to interact with children of all ages, with laughter, an easy manner and a genuine interest in whatever shenanigans were at hand. One would be hard pressed to find a man who relished the title of “Grandpa” more than Michael did.Friends and family may gather at Highpoint Christian Church, 2545 W. Comet Rd. in Clinton, Ohio for visitation on Wednesday, August 8 from 4:00pm-8:00pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:30pm.
