Richard Brogan
Father, husband, brother, uncle, friend to all.
“Big Rick” left us way too early on Saturday, August 25th 2018.Rick enjoyed good food, a dirty joke, and making everyone smile. The definition of generous. Stubborn but soft. If you asked him his greatest accomplishment he wouldn’t tell you anything about his family owned business of 65 years. He would tell you about his children and “his Sue.”Born here and raised here, he was a local legend. If you are one of the few reading this that never met him, I’m sorry you are the minority. In this town, “his town”, there is not a life or slab of concrete he hadn’t touched.Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Kitty Brogan; brother in law, Mike Lott Sr. and father-law, Leonard Crookston.Rick is survived by his wife Sue, his “eight babies” Nicole and Josh Hahn, Ricky and Clare Brogan, Lauren and Chris Null, Claire Brogan, Mason Brogan and his best friend grandson, Lincoln Hahn, and only one dog that he claims. Left behind to cherish their beautiful memories are siblings, Joy Lott, Don “Rusty” Brogan, dearest friend and business partner and his wife, Connie, Jill and Dave Frase; mother in law, Janet Crookston, and countless nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. He was so loved and will be sorely missed by all.Rick’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 29th at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, August 30th at 1 p.m. at St. Francis De Sales Parish, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron 44319 with Father David Bline, celebrant.Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his name to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, N.C. 27710.
