Roy A. Butchee, Jr., an extraordinary man, wonderful husband, loving and dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 31, 2018. Roy was born on August 31, 1928 to Roy A. Sr., and Mildred Butchee, and was raised in Oakdale, Louisiana where he graduated high school in 1945. He then moved with his family to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he attended Macneese Junior College. He later finished his college education at Louisiana Northwestern State College, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Accounting. He attended college having obtained football scholarships as he was a skilled player whose normal position was Center.He remained an avid college football fan all his life.While living in Lake Charles, Roy attended the First Methodist Church where he met his one and only sweetheart Willowdeene Ruth Litton.They married on February 10, 1951, and began a lifelong courtship.In 1954, the Butchee’s moved to Barberton, Ohio and Roy began his career in banking at The Great Northern Savings and Loan Company. He held several management positions there and eventually became the company’s Executive Vice President, serving in that capacity until 1982.After leaving Great Northern he started the accounting firm R.A. Butchee and Associates, where he provided tax and accounting services for many local businesses and private individuals throughout the community until his retirement in 1993. Always a very civil minded individual, Roy was a member of and served in many organizations over the years. As a young man still living in Louisiana, he served as a member of the Louisiana State National Guard. Roy was a longstanding member of National Lodge #568 F&AM; 32nd degree Scottish rite Valley of Akron; Barberton Elks; The Barberton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Barberton Kiwanis. He and his family were members of Lakeview United Methodist Church in Barberton. Roy Butchee was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother Richard Edgar Butchee, sister, Billie Faye Harrell, and his beloved daughter Tamara Lynn Butchee. In addition to his sweet wife Willowdeene, he leaves to share the joy of his memory and enduring love, his daughter Debbie (Frank) Lingel of Wadsworth; grandson, Dane K. Lingel of Akron; grand-daughters Tammy D. (Martin) Nemchev of Doylestown, and Aimee K. Lingel of Wadsworth; his cherished great grandchildren Leila, Cooper and Parker Nemchev; his sister Mildred “Millie” (Robert) Cochran of McKinney, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews around the country.Since August of 2017, Roy and Willowdeene Butchee enjoyed living together at The Inn at Coalridge in Wadsworth. Roy’s family has appreciated greatly the wonderful care and assistance provided there, and especially wish to thank all the staff and other residents for their expressions of kindness and comfort that have been extended in recent days. It will not be forgotten.Services for Roy will be held on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Campfield Hickman Collier Funeral Home, 566 West Park Avenue, Barberton, where visitation will take place on Monday, January 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday. Roy will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.Those wishing may make contributions in Roy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and to Lakeview United Methodist Church, 211 Third St. NW, Barberton, OH 44203.
