Argus “Lee” Watson passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at the age of 86.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (David), Rhonda, and Laura (Matt); his grandson, Mike, and Mike’s wife, Desi, with whom he spent the last several years of his life; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born in Arkansas, Lee later moved to Akron, Ohio, in search of opportunity. Through hard work and determination, he became a business owner in the refrigeration industry. He took great pride in his work and often spoke about the many local businesses he helped set up throughout the area. He maintained relationships with many of those business owners for over 40 years, often stopping in to visit. At the local places he frequented, the waitresses knew him simply as “Lee,” many having his food and drink ready as soon as he walked in.
Lee raised his family in Clinton, Ohio, where he built his life and put down roots. In more recent years, he moved to the Portage Lakes area to be closer to family.
Earlier in life, Lee had a deep passion for raising and training world-class coon hunting dogs and coonhound show dogs. His talent and dedication earned him numerous awards, and he was featured in magazines for his work. He also had a natural way with horses and enjoyed riding them in local parades many years ago.
Lee was never a stranger to anyone. He was quick to start a conversation wherever he went and will be remembered by many for those everyday connections. He lived a simple and modest life -extremely frugal, never asking for much, and often refusing help even when it was offered. He could be kind, humorous, and sharp-witted, but in his prime, he was a true workaholic who believed in earning everything through hard work.
He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Bonnie - the love of his life.
One of his favorite sayings was, “Don’t get old, there’s no future in it.”
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203 on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
