Betty (Addis) Smith

Betty Smith (nee Addis), age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Betty was born in 1931 and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She was known to be a kind, loving and caring woman and dedicated most of her life to fostering children. Betty was all about her family and the last of her siblings to leave this earth. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith; infant sister, Mabel Maxine Addis; parents, Edith and Everett Addis; siblings, Bill (Winnie) Addis, Charlotte (Robert) Hawk, Hazel Petriga, Joye (Richard) Downs, Chuck (Barb) Addis and James (Ruth) Addis. Betty is survived by her loving family; her daughters, Heather (Mike) Witchey and Angie (Ken) Gohlke; grandchildren, Maria, Anna, Konnor, Mackenzie and Kacie and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved very much. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Pebble Creek Nursing Home staff who’ve treated Betty like an extended family member for the past six years and a sincere thank you for the care provided by Summa Home Hospice. To celebrate Betty’s life the family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203.  Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
