Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Some do it a little longer and carry a heavy grieving heart. To walk around and carry such a burden is hard but to do it with grace and poise is even harder. When their departure comes it reminds us that angels are watching over us. Sue wasn’t one to sit and wait for a call or to sit still and wait for anything. We would like to share with you that her work here is done. She received a call, on Friday August 11th, 2023 the sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This was an offer she couldn’t refuse that came with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time and gained a pair of glittery wings. Sue was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She took pride in her youthful appearance and will forever be 26 to anyone that knew her. Her hard work and determination was prevalent through her life it afforded her to be able to enjoy the finer things in life like ice cream for dinner and all the jewels one could wear. You would never catch her without some sort of bling adorning her person. Her laughter could light up a room as there was no spot light needed because of whatever rhinestone she was wearing at the time would shine brighter than the heavens. We could write a book on the accomplishments and laughs this gem of a human provided. As the daughter of a preacher she never wavered from her roots. The most important characteristic of them all was her candor and pure love she had for her family. You always knew but never knew who she was spoiling at the time. As a loved one of hers you would never want for anything as her love language was to give no matter how small. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Oliver & Maskel Scalf, late husband, Denver Dalton; sister, Virginia Cook; daughter, Denise Miller; son, Curtis Dalton; 2 grandsons, Richard Miller II, & Christopher Dalton. Sue is survived by her devoted loving husband Bud; sister, Frances (Mark) Schuster, son in law, Richard Miller; daughters in law, Marsha Marville and Janet Dalton; step children, Angel (Ian) Faieta, Buddy (Bernice) White; grandchildren, Jennifer (Allen) Tooke, Jeremy (Suzannah) Miller, Joshua Miller, Megan Dalton, Liz Miller, Lucas (Jordan) Martin, Alexis Martin, Blaise and 14 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. There will be no funeral as per her wishes but we will host a Celebration of Her Life for family and friends Thursday August 17, 2023 at the Portage Lakes Kiwanis Civic Center, 725 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron Ohio, 44319 from 5-7pm.
