Carol F. Messenger, 88, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 2, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to the late Herbert D. and Clara (Bauer) Hainline. Carol truly enjoyed being a military wife and traveling with her family all over Europe. She was an avid lover of nature and horseback riding. Preceded in death by her husbands, Sgt. Lloyd L. Palmateer in 1985 and William E. Messenger in 2015. Carol is survived by her children, Diana (Michael) Hester, John (Shirley) Palmateer and Dawn (Thomas d.) Schafer; grandchildren, Daniel (Michelle) Hester, Bryan (Brittney) Hester, Jody M. Hester, Sarah (Levi) Scott, Jesse (Brandi) Palmateer; Rachel (Jason) Vanek and Matthew Schafer; great-grandchildren, Natalia and Sebastian Hester; Aaron, Jacob and Kaleb Hester; Gavin, Audra and Raeleigh Palmateer; beloved niece, Annette (Toth) Chapman; along with numerous other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held for Carol on Monday, April 11th at 10 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Inurnment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Homestead Hospice.
