Daniel "Dan" E. Burley, age 72, born on June 24, 1950 peacefully passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 after a brief illness. He was a Barberton High School Class of 1969 graduate. He retired from the Babcock & Wilcox Company where he was a welder for 30 years and a member of Boilermakers Local 900. He continued to work after retirement at Chippewa Golf Course through the 2022 season. Dan enjoyed golfing during the warm months and trapshooting during the colder months. He was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the Mud Run Sportsman’s Association. He was a collector of sports memorabilia and a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed short trips on his Harley. Dan was also a Barberton Sports fan and attended many football and basketball games over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse F. and Elizabeth J. Burley and older brother, Jesse W Burley. He is survived by his sons, John of Barberton, Michael of Akron, Matthew of Akron and former wife, Carol Burley and the Tom Harris family. He is also survived by his younger brother, William (Laura) Burley, nephew, Ian Burley and niece Anna Fling, as well as numerous cousins.The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Summa Akron City 3rd Floor ICU and Summa Health Hospice for their compassionate care provided to Dan. Donations in Dan’s memory may be made to St. Augustine Church Endowment Fund. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
