Dennis W. Clem, 80, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 surrounded by his family. Although he was born and raised in Cresaptown, MD to Lola and Everett Clem, he resided in the Akron area for the last 50 years of his life. He was a graduate of Fenn College, which became Cleveland State, with degrees in both mechanical and electrical engineering. He was a hard worker and always inspired those around him to do their best, especially his children and grandchildren. One of his signature phrases was “Fools rush in” because he was never impulsive, but rather thoughtfully determined that if it was worth doing, it would be done right. He worked for several different companies over the years, but even after retiring, his expertise was continually sought so he became an independent engineering contractor. He applied those same ethics to his hobbies which included softball, photography, bowling, golfing and boating. Perhaps what he loved most was his motorcycle and taking road trips with his friends. He had ridden for over 66 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; two brothers, Richard and James Clem; brother-in-law, Gerald Rosen and son-in-law, Jack Boyes. Dennis is survived by his three children whom he referred to with nicknames as terms of endearment, Dennis “Dio” Clem (Jennifer), Sally “Sassy” Woodruff (John), and Virginia “Sweet Pea” Boyes (Dennis Martin). His 8 grandchildren, who will miss their “Popeye” Gene Woodruff, Rachel Boyes, Dennis Clem III, Wendy (Zach ) Lawrence, Andrew Clem, Aaron Boyes, Elizabeth (Andrew) Jordan and Molly Boyes. His sisters, Nancy Rosen and Norma (Oliver) Brewer, and brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Clem as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and his precious Sheltie, “Miss Tessa”. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Ray Martin officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours this Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Justin T.
