Dolores J. Furraitti, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on January 14, 1943 and was a resident of Barberton for most of her life. Dolores graduated from Fairmont State University and was a teacher in Summit County, Ohio for many years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was also a member of the Wadsworth Doll Club. Dolores enjoyed spending time with her family, “singing and dancing”, movies and gardening. She definitely was the matriarch of the family and very proud of her Polish heritage. She taught us all about the importance of family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely, spoiled them and taught them so many valuable things about living life. She set a high bar to live up to. Just ask her great-grandchildren. They often respond, “That’s not how Baba makes it”, “it’s fine, Baba will fix it”, “Baba will get this slime out of (insert slime covered thing here)”. She will be greatly missed by all who love her. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Herman; sister, Elaine Pietrowski; husband, Jan and sons, Doug and Greg. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Beth; sister, Gloria Masters; beloved granddaughters, Nicole, Jessica, Elaine and Lilly; great-grandchildren, Reese, Bryson, Zoey, James and Robert; daughter-in-law Amy Kohler; sisters-in-law, Tina (John) Behm and Martha (Michael) Johnson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton 44203 with Father Robert Jackson, celebrant. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at Prince of Peace Church.
