Eleanor C. Woods (Moore) passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Born on November 20, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the first born of seven children of Irish immigrants John and Nora Moore. The family moved to Lowell, MA after the start of World War II. In 1953 Eleanor met her soul mate Walter "Bud" Woods while he was stationed at Ft. Devons, MA. They married in 1954 and moved to Bud's hometown, Akron, where he returned to his job at Goodyear. Bud and Eleanor enjoyed a great marriage until his death in 2021.
Eleanor was a homemaker and wonderful mother to her daughters Laurie and Christine. She was active in her card club, Mother Singers, and also worked at JCPenney.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers John, James, Michael, and her sister Ann. She is survived by her daughters Laurie Foster (Tom Schleicher), Christine Gilley (Keith), grandchildren Kaley McDonald (Kyle), Kat Snyder, great grandson Dylan McDonald, step grandchildren Kristofer Gilley (Arwen), Kurtis Gilley (Caitlyn) and step grandchildren, brother Robert Moore (Frances), sister Margaret Brady, sisters in law Margaret Moore and Marlene Moore, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in the summer.
