Frances E. (Hiegel) Brean

Frances E. Brean (Hiegel) made her journey to Heaven on Sunday, May 29th, 2022. Fran was born in Barberton, Ohio on June 20th, 1945 to Jocelyn and Frank Hiegel and graduated from Coventry High School, Class of 1963. She married the love of her life, Charles S. Brean on June 23rd, 1964. Fran and Charles raised three children through many duty stations and deployments and returned home to Akron after Charles retired from service in the United States Navy. Fran worked at Bank One in downtown Akron for 18 years, where she made lifelong friends. She was a member of the Barberton First Church of Christ and loved singing her heart out on Sunday mornings. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend. Fran's greatest joy in life was her family and she will be remembered fondly as a loving Mom, Grammy, GiGi, sister, aunt and friend. She was very proud to be a Navy wife and matriarch of a family with members serving in the United States Army, Navy and Air Force. Fran will be deeply missed by her children, Joyce (Ronald) Klein of North Lawrence, Joseph (Pat Blackledge) Brean of Anchorage, AK, and Jennifer (Terry) McGovern of Ooltewah, TN; grandchildren, Kyle (Jennifer) Klein, Kelsey Klein, Charles Brean, Dylan McGovern and Nathan McGovern; great-grandchildren Lawson and Hadley Klein; siblings, Michael Hiegel and Theresa (John) Magin; special friends, Gloria Patterson and Paul and Peggy Klein; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special neighbors. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles; parents, Jocelyn and Frank Hiegel and in-laws, Joseph and Martha Brean. Fran’s funeral service will be held Saturday June 4th, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Campfield Hickman Collier Funeral Home 566 W. Park Ave. Barberton, OH 44203, with Minister Jeremy Klein officiating. Family will receive friends and family on Friday, June 3rd from 5-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service.
