Franklin Frederick Bischoff, Jr., passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 5, 1943 to Franklin F. Bischoff Sr. and Margaret E. Webb (Snyder). Frank was a lifetime resident of the Barberton/Norton area where he graduated from Norton High School, Class of 1961. He also graduated from Kent State University with an Associate Degree in Criminology and was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany during Vietnam Era. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Wanda L. Mercer, Marjory A. Swain and Robert A. Bischoff. He married the love of his life and partner, Dorothy in 1964 and celebrated 60 years together. Their children are Raymond J., Paul D. (Lisa) and Susan Marie. They enjoyed many family gatherings with their eight grandchildren; Michael, Chelsea (Scott) Seifer, Mary Grace, Caroline (Austin) Boccia, Mitchell (Savannah), Hallie Bischoff (Jarrod) Lepley, Macy and Lexi. Great- Grandchildren, Nate, Dominic, and Bently Seifer; Ethan Fienberg and their soon to be born baby Bischoff; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Frank was a Summit County Deputy for 34 plus years, retiring in June 2000. He was member of Barberton First Church of Christ where he was a former Deacon and taught Junior Church for many years. Frank was a Charter member of the Summit County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #139 where he served as lodge secretary. Frank attended the OPERS Retirement Systems Monthly Board Meetings so he could keep updated on requirements to help his fellow F.O.P. Brothers and Sister on the process of Disability Retirement. He also served as Sergeant of Arms to the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio for 10 years an attended many of the May 15th Police Memorial Services in Washington DC; and Served on the Board of The 222 Corporation. Frank was involved with the Masons, as Past Master of the National Lodge #568 F&AM and 32nd Degree Scottish Right Valley of Akron. He was a member of Magic City Kiwanis where he coordinated the “Kiwanis Rose Day” for his local organization and helped make wooden Cars and Trains for the Children Christmas Gift Project. His love was reading books; where he felt he could go anywhere in this world and still be at home, or figure out the mystery. “It was said my many that he brought home the library and left some books there for other”, especially in the last few years, for he used the Barberton Library Home Delivery service. His membership in the Friends of the Library also gave him a way to give back at the Book Sales in the spring and fall. Frank’s family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. Followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Frank’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Barberton First Church of Christ, 552 Harvard Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203 Private burial with military honors will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
