Fred Layton, 88 passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Wadsworth Pointe Nursing Home. Fred was a lifetime resident of Akron and Barberton. He retired from Metro Transit. Preceded in death by his parents; many brothers and sisters and beloved grandson, Bret Bailey. Fred leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Julie; children Anne Secoy (Harry), Anita Bailey (Dan), Fred Jr. and Mike Layton (Regina); special sister-in-law, Janis Lambes and her children; grandchildren, Daniel Visher (Adrienne) Jason Visher (Sarah), Nathan Layton (Kenzie), Sarah Johnson (John), Krysti Fleming (Joseph), Allison Dupree (Tyler), Nick Parkhurst (Maghan), Zack Parkhurst (Natasha) and Brandy Wiley (Marcus); along with thirteen great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Fred will be remembered for his sense of humor and his great love of family and friends. Everyone who met him loved him! Fred’s family would like to thank all the nurses from the Hospice of Western Reserve, Medina, Ohio (especially nurse, Annie) and the wonderful nurses at Wadsworth Pointe. You all are the best! Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
