Gary Wayne Gilbertson

Gary Wayne Gilberton, 63, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 after a difficult battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his mother, Linda McCaskey (nee Echard) and his brother, Martin Gilbertson. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Kyla Gilbertson; father, Charlie Gilbertson (Dee Dee); stepfather, Rexford McCaskey; sisters, Kelly (Travis) Fate and Morgan (Eric) Robertson; nieces, Victoria Gilbertson and Margaret and Sadie Robertson; nephews, Garrett Humphreys and Emmett Robertson; along with many other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his girlfriend of two years, Deborah. Gary was born in Barberton on February 4, 1959. He graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1977.  He then went on to earn a degree from Akron University. He worked at P&G as a Corporate R&D Specialist for 22 years until the time of his passing. Gary was an avid guitar player and loved to play with his bandmates in “The Other Band”. He also enjoyed running, playing chess, and solving puzzles. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held on Friday, May 20th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203. Per the family’s request, please wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
