Neither death nor life is able to separate us from the love of God that is Christ Jesus. Gladys wrote, “What did you pray for today? Faith and hope to feel warm and loved by our Savior above”. Gladys Bloomer (Flickinger), 100 years old went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. A resident of Loyal Oak and Kenmore, Gladys was a member of Firestone Park United Methodist Church, the Ruth Circle and the Norton Historical Society. Thru the years Gladys enjoyed camping and taking long rides in the car with dad. She took great pleasure in her yard and flowers, receiving certificates from the City of Akron for many years. Preceded in death by her young son, Robert “Bobby” Joe and her beloved husband, Elmer. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sharon) and Tom (Chris); grandchildren, Brian Bloomer (John), Lisa Hendershot (Brian), Mark Bloomer, Mike Bloomer (Kim) and Nicholas Bloomer (Danyell); great-grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Hendershot, Gabrielle, Colton, Eden and Alexandra Bloomer; nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Pleasant View Health and Rehab for the past 6 ½ years of love and care for mom. Gladys’ funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 4th at 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Sam Martin officiating. Followed by burial at Loyal Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 3rd from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials to Firestone United Methodist Church, 250 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44301. Due to current circumstances masks are REQUIRED and social distancing will be observed. As a remembrance of Gladys, plant a flower.
