Harry “Jim” Kennedy “Cowboy Jim” 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Barberton on February 10, 1958. Jim retired from the Fairlawn Hilton after 46 years of service as Executive Chef. He was proud of having carved 30 ice sculptures in a week for Children’s Hospital. Jim was a Barberton socialite belonging to numerous local social clubs. He served as a Trustee at the Barberton Civitan Club. He was an avid pool player and card player. Jim loved riding his motorcycles and was always seen wearing his cowboy hat hence the name, “Cowboy Jim”. He truly loved his family and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lee Kennedy and Nancy Drouhard. Jim is survived by his wife, Jodi; daughters, Nicole (BJ) Kraght, Susan (Will) Chaich; stepchildren, Whitney (Jake) Beall, Michael (Cassie) Haenftling and Ashley (Jeremy) Hathaway; grandchildren, Katie Kraght, Jacob Kraght, TJ Chaich and Evan Chaich; step-grandchildren Brittany, Jadea, Layla, Emma, Isabella, Carter and Chase. Jim was one of six siblings, the surviving five are, Debbie (Ron), Lisa, Rina (Chester), Trina (Marty) and Richard (Pauline); along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jim’s family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with a memorial service at 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life/Benefit will be held on Sunday March 9, 2025 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Barberton Civitan Club, 44 10th Street, S.W., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
