Irene Lee Showalter, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in Fairlawn, Ohio. She was born on February 1, 1942. Born and raised in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania, Irene graduated from Swissvale High School. She spent most of her married life in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, later relocating to East Canton, Ohio, in 1986. In 2016, she moved to Iowa, then returned to Ohio in 2021. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (2019); her son, Ronald (2015); her brother, Chuck; and her parents, Charles and Margaret Brunner. She is survived by two sons: Thomas (Rose) Showalter of Barberton, Ohio, and Timothy (Sonia) Showalter of Louisville, Ohio. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Paige (Ethan) McGlaughlin, Victoria (James) Potter, Grace (Michael) Armbruster, and Josiah Showalter; as well as her siblings: Marylyn Klein, Chris Watson, James Brunner, Roy Brunner, and Jane Ditmore. Irene also leaves behind two great-grandchildren: Calihan Potter and Ellie Marie McGlaughlin. Throughout her life, Irene worked in banking and credit unions and helped run a family-owned convenience store, E&A. She enjoyed crafting and gardening. She will be remembered with respect and gratitude by those whose lives she touched. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Community Church, 4363 Manchester Ave SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
