James "Jim" Edward Jones

James “Jim” Edward Jones, 86, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to the late Ed and Ethel Jones. Jim was a graduate of Akron Central High School, Class of 1957 and was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 39 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy (nee Carson); children, Debbie (Ken) Nevel and Dean (Amy) Jones; grandsons, Jason Nevel, Derek and Adam Jones and brother, Gary (Sue) Jones of Southport, N.C. Jim and Nancy spent 25 winters in Hemet, California. Jim was a great golfer with ten “Holes in Ones”. He was also a great bowler in Akron for many years with one “300 Game” and bowled with the Pro’s when they came to Akron. He also enjoyed going to “Sprint Car Races”, as his dad had been a race car driver at the Akron Rubber Bowl. Jim’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rod Grabski officiating. Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
