Late Tuesday evening, June 7, 2022, Jim, age 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Jim was born in Barberton Ohio on January 22, 1948 to the late George and Alice (Wilson) Madden. Jim graduated from Norton High School where he served as the school mascot. At the young age of 18, Jim began a 48 year career with Akron Children’s Hospital where he developed a strong thirst for knowledge. He worked his way up through the ranks retiring as the Director of Engineering and Facilities Repair. During his tenure, he was honored with receiving the highly coveted Distinguished Service Award. It was while working at Children’s that he met his beloved wife Julie with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Throughout his life he was known for his work ethic, precision and dedication. He was a kind man who always had a welcoming smile. He enjoyed southern gospel music, gardening, yardwork, tractors, adventures, and yet relished the peace of quiet. He loved his family and friends, especially his precious grandchildren having recently welcomed his first great-grandchild. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and sweetheart, Julie (Harrold), sister, Judy Williams, son, James John (Leslie) Madden, daughter, Stefani (Wade) Fee, grandchildren, Ashley Gavel (James Keys), Sydney Gavel (Bradley Capps), Samuel Madden, Brandon Fee, Jessica Madden, Connor Fee, great-grandson, Marshall James Capps and his former wife, Patricia Cusma, the mother of his children. Jim also leaves his nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear cousin and buddy, Mike Devenport. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 12, 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W Park Ave, Barberton. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Rd, Akron 44312, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Jeremy Candelaria will be officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Rd, Akron 44320.
