James "Jim" A. Mitchell

James “Jim” A. Mitchell, 96, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was lifelong resident of Barberton. Jim was born July 4th, 1926 to Essie (Neal) and Walter Mitchell. He grew up living at the O.C. Barber Farm and attended Coventry High School. A WWII Navy Veteran, he fought at the battle at Okinawa with Honors. An athlete all his life, loved fishing, hunting, baseball, and bowling, winning the Ohio State Senior Olympics several times and bowled 2 - 300 games during his bowling life. Jim is survived by his family, Jim (Rana) Mitchell of Canton, Diane (Bob) Petroski of Uniontown, Kelly (Jodi) Mitchell of Gates Miles, Scott (Teri) Mitchell of Columbus and Steve (Michelle) of Hartville; 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Cremation has taken place.There will be a graveside service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
