Obituary
Jan R. Ries, 80, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was born in Akron on May 1, 1943 and was a graduate of Barberton High School, Class of 1961. Jan was an avid golfer, boater, water skier and truly loved the Portage Lakes. Preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ida Ries and sister, Sandy Ries. Jan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat; daughters, Monique (Charles) Fuenning and Marielle (Frank) Parvin; son, Tad Ries; his pride and joy, his eight grandchildren, Ashby (Jon), Lauren (Kyle), Derek (Ali), Ries (Allison), Decklan, Austin, Kelton (Heather) and Camden; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sherri (Ray) Archer; along with nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Following his wishes, “A Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
