Janet L. Corey

     Janet L. Corey, 71, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025. 

     She was born in Barberton, Ohio on January 11, 1954.  Janet was a 1972 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Akron and also graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  She retired from the U.S. Navy in 1998 after 21 years of service and was commissioned an Officer in 1977. Janet was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.  She was a member and past President of Friends of Camp Christopher and was also a member of Christ Child Society.

     Janet was a long time Boy Scout volunteer and also received the Marian Award from the Girl Scouts.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting items for various charities.

     Preceded in death by her mother, Marianne McArtor and niece, Amanda Mills.  She is survived by her son, David Corey; sister, Patricia (Tom) Mills and niece, Katie Mills.

     Janet’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth Street, N.W., Barberton.  Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
