Jeffrey A. Hanzel, 70, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer. He was born in Barberton on January 1, 1956, and graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1974. Jeff retired from Corporate Express as a truck driver.
Jeff enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, and watching his Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Norma Hanzel; and in-laws, Frank and Gert Megyes.
He is survived by wife, Cynthia; daughters, Whitney Megyes (Mike Holtzapple) and Kelley (Stephen) Serva; grandchildren, Mikey (Piper), Riley, and Payton; great-granddaughters, Juniper and Olive; best friends, Dan and Sally Knorr and David “Fosse” Furscik; brother, Jack (Cheryl) Hanzel; sister, Joan (Dave) Stover; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jeff’s family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with final/medical expenses.
