John Virgil Carter

John Virgil Carter, 67, of Barberton passed away Monday, October 28, 2024. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on December 14, 1956. John was a graduate of Barberton High School, Class of 1975.  He went on and graduated from the Akron Barber College and later received his Managers certificate from Gerber School of Cosmetology. John had a long career as a hair stylist in the Akron area and had many loyal clients over the years. He was owner/operator of Studio Hair Works since 1997. John received several awards and had photographs of his work in a number of trade magazines. He was an extremely caring person and very much loved his family. John loved to laugh and had a good sense of humor. He had a strong will and determination once his mind was made up. He never met a stranger and could talk to and with anyone. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Britany; parents, Virgil Carter and Norma Hausch.  John is survived by his wife, Gina; grandsons, Kaine and Travis; siblings, Stephen (Brenda) Copeland, Lou Anne (Joseph) Ware, David Carter, Carole (Ruben) De La Rosa, Beverly (Ted) Jones, Rita (Don) Sheppard and Debbie (Greg) Milliken; longtime friend, John Singer; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. John’s funeral service will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, with Pastor Brian Cowan officiating. Burial to follow at Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. and also on Friday from 12 Noon until time of his service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Interval Brotherhood Homes, 3445 S.
