Judith Elaine (Alkyer) Vlcek

Judith Elaine (Alkyer) Vlcek of Barberton passed away on March 30, 2024. Judy was born in Olympia, Washington on May 10, 1945. Judy was a 1963 graduate of Kenmore High School. She spent most of her working career in the accounting department at B.F. Goodrich until they moved out of Ohio. She spent a lot of time working for Account Temps, where she loved working with various companies in the accounting field. Judy also obtained a real estate license and worked for Kruger Realty in Portage Lakes for a few years. She worked for DW Fastner in Barberton where she ultimately retired. Judy made friends everywhere she went. Judy was a member of Columbia United Church of Christ in Barberton where she loved to attend on Sundays and where she felt at home. She loved sharing her faith in Jesus. Judy had played the piano since she was a young girl, although too bashful to play in front of people. She had a love of all things crafting, from card making, scrapbooking, diamond dot painting and crocheting; she loved to read mysteries; and she loved everything to do with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Beulah Alkyer, and her infant son, John Charles Espy. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John, who was faithfully by her side to the end; son, Steve (Kelly) Espy, daughter, Kathy Davisson (Steven Francis), brother, Denny (Nancy) Alkyer, sister-in-law, Jean, grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) Whitney, Alicia Whitney, Nate (Dasaynia) Davisson, Josh (Madison) Davisson, Matthew Francis, Caleb Hatula and Luke Espy, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and cousins. Judy has been cremated and a visitation and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Road W., Barberton, OH, with a service immediately following. Pastor John Henniger, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations Judy’s memory can be made to Columbia United Church of Christ.
