On April 16, 2026, after 102 remarkable years, June Williams Brindley was called home. June was born at home in Kenmore, Ohio to George and Delphia Matheny Williams on April 6, 1924. June attended Pfeiffer Elementary School and graduated from Kenmore High School as the class valedictorian in 1941. Following graduation, she enrolled at The University of Akron where she joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and met lifelong friends. She took a break from her college classes to join the Navy WAVES. She served at a Naval Air Base in Olathe, Kansas until she was discharged in 1946. She then returned to Akron U where she met another returning veteran, Richard Brindley. June graduated from college in 1949, the same year she married Richard. In 1951, Richard and June settled in Barberton where they raised their two daughters Kathy and Kim. June was active at her daughters’ elementary school where she served on the PTA, was a room mother and led Girl Scout Troop 509. Over the years, June worked as a secretary for many companies. Before retiring, she served for 7 years as a legal secretary to attorney John Deibel. June was fiercely independent and devoted to her family. It was always fun to be in her company. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed word games, crossword puzzles and puns. She loved dancing, singing, playing the piano, watching old movies and following Barberton High School and Cavalier basketball. June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Richard, sisters and brothers-in-laws Margie and Paul Wineka, Helen and Eldon Kitchen, and nephew Larry Kitchen. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (John) Brown and Kim; and nephews, George (Pam) Kitchen, Russell (Gilda) Kitchen, Rory (Patty) Wineka and nieces, Lynn Spidle and Sandy Kitchen. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living where June resided for 11 years and to Summa Barberton Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Barberton where June was a longtime member, or a charity of your choice. A private memorial service will be held for the family with inurnment along with military honors at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
