Larry John Lovas, 70, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at home. He was a loving husband, devoted father, Papa, and brother. Larry was born Sept 12, 1950 to Frank and Teresa Lovas, who have both preceded him in death. Larry was a faithful husband to Donna (née Harding) for 43 years. He was a loving father of Christine, Matthew, and Anne (Attila) Vamos. Proud papa of Evan Lease, Juliana and Andrew Lovas; Ruby and Scarlett Lovas; Mary, Emma, Vivian, Clare, Zelie and Margaret Vamos. Beloved brother of Dennis (Joyce), Bob and Judy (Ron) Olson. Brother-in-law of Kathy Bixler, Rick and Mark Harding. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Becky Lovas, and niece, BettyAnn Ashcraft. He was a lifelong resident of Barberton. Larry was a graduate of Barberton High School, Class of 1969 and also a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Church and a member of the church choir. He was retired from Westfield Insurance Group. Larry was also a Boy Scout leader, avid bird watcher, amateur entomologist and annual Metro Park hiker. Larry will be remembered for his love of family and nature. He will be forever missed. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. A memorial mass for Larry will be held Thursday, June 17th at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton 44203 with Fr. Robert Jackson officiating. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
