Laura Jane Barnett "Maw"

Laura Jane Barnett, “Maw”, passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved-ones on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Laura was born in Sutton, West Virginia to David and Arlie Ruth Gross on 4/29/1932. They preceded her in death along with the following loved ones: her siblings-Henry and David Gross and Olive Jean Young; her children, James Barnett, Sharon Leaf and David Young, as well as several grandchildren and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Shirley Barnett. Laura is survived by her children, Jeanne Young, Roger Young, Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Elizabeth Young, Theresa L. Barnett, John Barnett, Dee Barnett and son-in-law, Terry Keen; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed holidays and spending time with family. Her favorite season was fall and she loved watching the trees change colors. She also loved dancing and going to concerts – especially Rod Stewart. Elvis’ gospel songs were amongst her favorite as well. Laura loved the Lord and worshipping with family and friends at the Church of God. She was extremely strong yet so very kind, and she left behind a huge legacy of love. She is responsible for the creation of over one hundred lives, and we will all miss her so much. Through the strength and love that she passed down to each of us, we will keep her alive in our hearts and memories.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m.Laura’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 27th at 2 p.m. with Randy Baker officiating. Laura will be laid to rest together with the ashes of her granddaughter, Michelle Lee Barnett, some of the ashes of daughter, Sharon Leaf next to her son, James Barnett at Greenlawn Memorial Park on September 27th, 2023 at 3 p.m. Laura loved her Hospice team and the family wishes to thank them for their love and care. We also wish to thank Dr. Breen and all the friends and family who loved, cared and supported her throughout this time.The family would also like to thank Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home for all their help.
