Lawrence “Larry” E. Powell, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2024 Born on November 2, 1928 in Carbon Hill, Ohio and was a resident of Barberton for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Larry retired from Midwest Rubber with over 40 years of service and was an active member of Columbia United Church of Christ. Larry was a member of many Masonic organizations including: Past Master Barberton Lodge #750 F&AM (now New Franklin Lodge); Past High Priest of Portage Chapter #202 RAM, Past Illustrious Master of Akron Council; Past Eminent Commander of Akron Commandery; Past Deputy Division Commander of Northeastern Division (formerly 8th Division); Past Sovereign Master of Western Reserve Council AMD; a member of Ohio Priory; 32nd Degree Valley of Akron and Past Worthy Matron Jeanette Chapter #212 OES (now Ravenna Chapter #46 OES). Preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Sally (9/2/23); siblings, Helen “Rose” Williams, Darrell “Fred” Powell, Gloria Cosgrove and Bonnie Clevenger. Larry is survived by son, Robert “Bob” Jernigan; grandchildren, Rob (Katie) Jernigan and Lynett (Brian) Caplinger; great-grand-daughter, Maria Caplinger; along with nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. Larry’s funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Mike Hawkins officiating. Larry will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sally at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Road, W.
