Leroy “Lee” Allan Hackenberg, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by his family. He is in heaven with all of his wonderful memories back. He was born on January 23, 1941 in Barberton to Robert and Mildred Hackenberg. Lee was a lifelong resident of Barberton and touched many lives through his passion of helping others. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert “Bob” Hackenberg. Lee is survived his wife, Marsha; children, Kim (Scott) Collins and Kelly (Harry) Alexander; grandchildren, Sean and Cole Collins and Nicholas, Kara and Kristina Alexander; Marsha’s sons, Michael Freeman and Earl Nelson and grandson, Carter Nelson; sister, Patricia (Eugene) Dyrdek; niece, Denise (Jason) Lundsford; nephew, Rob (Bryiana) Dyrdek and extended family, cousins, Terri (Andy) Pfaff and many friends. Lee was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He retired from B.F. Goodrich and was a member of Columbia United Church of Christ in Barberton. Lee was a member of the Masonic community, including Akron Commandery and Scottish Rites. The Honorary Member of the Supreme Council 33rd Degree was bestowed upon him in August 2013. He held many leadership positions in his 60 years of service, including: Past Master of Barberton Lodge #750, Past High Priest Portage Chapter #202, Past Illustrious Master Akron Council #80, Past Commander of Akron Commandery #25, Past Most Wise Master Arras Chapter Rose Croix Valley of Akron, Past Sovereign Mastor Adar Council Prince of Jerusalem Valley of Akron and Past Thrice Potent Master Aroba Lodge of Perfection Valley of Akron. He was also a member of Senior DeMolay, Shannon Council #28 Knight Masons of Ireland, The Royal Order of Scotland and Anna Dean Chapter OES. He was also active in Boy Scout Troop #759 in Norton. Lee loved his family and was proud to be called “Papa”. We will treasure our memories together and the love he shared with us. Cremation has taken place. A “Celebration of Life” will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon. A Masonic Service at 12 Noon, with a funeral service to follow conducted by Pastor John Henninger officiating. Dinner to follow at National Lodge #568, 915 W. Hopocan Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Franklin Lodge #803 or to Ohio Living Rockynol’s Memory Care Unit.
