Marilyn Jean Yanda, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Jean was born in Akron, Ohio, on May 6, 1934. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1952 and married Leroy Yanda at St. Bernard Catholic Church on April 12, 1958. Jean lived in Norton with her husband Leroy for 52 years. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and participated in the Ladies Altar Guild, Bible studies, and fish frys. Jean was also a member of the Norton PTA, Norton Band Boosters, and Flowering Heights Garden Club. She was retired from National City Bank.Jean spent her life serving others and was very devoted to her church, family, and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Teresa and Henry Winkler, and her husband, Leroy. She is survived by her children, Patti (Gary) Phillips, Charlie (Kelly) Yanda, and David (LeeAnn) Yanda; her grandchildren, Amy Phillips, Kerri (Dan) Northrop, Andrew Phillips, Joseph (Maria) Phillips, John Phillips, Matthew Yanda, Gregory Yanda, Michael (Caity) Yanda, and Megan Yanda and her fiancé Cody Rademacher; her great-grandchildren, Jacob Phillips, Tucker and Carter Northrop, and Mason, Cooper, and Paige Yanda; her brothers, Butch (Margie) and Jim Winkler; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Fr. James Maloney, Fr. Louis Thomas, and Fr. Andy Gonzalez. They’d also like to thank all the employees of Hudson Grande, especially those working in the memory care unit, as well as her Hospice nurses, Molly and Kris, for all their loving support and the excellent care they provided for Jean. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with Rosary following at 6 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Road, Norton. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jean’s memory.
