Merritt L. "Less" Horton Jr.

Merritt L. “Les” Horton Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday. April 13, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1934 to the late Merritt L. Horton Sr. and Ruth (Remmey). Merritt was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Barberton High, Class of 1952, where he won awards in wrestling. A Barberton resident all of his life, he worked at Midwest Rubber and retired from B.F. Goodrich.  Les attended Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal Oak for over 60 years.  Merritt loved golf and bowling and watching all sports on T.V. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna (Blechl). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Paulette Horton; daughter, Denise and son, Bruce. Special thanks need to be given to Dave and Kathleen Myers, Bruce’s care givers.The family would like to thank Summa Hospice and the staff at Autumnwood Nursing Home for all the care and support that Merritt received.There will be no funeral service. Les will be laid to rest with his wife, Donna in a private ceremony with family in attendance. He will be lovingly missed.
