Michael Warner Laird

Michael Warner Laird, 56, of Medina, OH passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. Michael was born on November 3, 1965, in Columbus, OH, a son of Bert Warner and Carolyn (Workman) Laird of Medina, OH. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Moore) Laird, beloved sons, Christopher M. Laird and Brody W. Laird, brothers, Mark Laird and Matthew Laird, and his childhood friend, Joseph Lazor. Michael served in the United States Air Force, graduated from St. Mary’s University, and worked in sports broadcasting, communications, and journalism. However, the title he most often went by was Coach. Michael was a coach at IVL Baseball Academy in Wadsworth, OH and he was the owner and coach of the Dingoes Baseball Club in Wadsworth, OH. One of the things that made Michael a great coach was that he taught his players to respect each other, their coaches, and the game. Whether it was coaching football, basketball, or his passion, baseball, his boys knew he always had their back and he will always be remembered for his motto…1% Better Every Day! Michael’s wife, Debby, was a three-time organ transplantee, so it was a great honor to find out that Michael qualified to be an organ/tissue donor. Through Lifebanc, his life will continue to touch the lives of countless others. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 12:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 7615 Ridge Road, Wadsworth, OH. Friends may call on Friday, March 25th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church and also on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. All players are encouraged to wear their jerseys in honor of Coach Laird. Burial will be at a time to be determined by the family at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH; military honors will be conducted.
