Mildred Marie Cain Zdila, 81, of West Jefferson, OH, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 after a four-month illness. Born in Cameron, West Virginia on July 18, 1940, to Clarence and Nellie Sampson, Marie spent her adult life in Ohio. Marie retired from Parker Hannifin in 2004. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, cooking, and gardening. Marie also loved music and spent several years singing with Sweet Adelines choruses including the City of Flags Chorus of Canton, OH. She was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church of Firestone Park. Marie was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Nellie Sampson; infant brother, Clarence Raymond Sampson Jr.; sisters, Linda Sue Bertrand and Shirley Courtwright; son, Mark Cain; former husband, Norwood Cain; husband, Paul Zdila; niece, Lynn Marie Sylvester and nephews, Bernie and Challen Bertrand. Marie is survived by daughter, Beverly Cain and son-in-law, James Patterson; granddaughter, Melissa Cabell (Tyler Bower); great granddaughter, Everly Bower, and niece, Laura Van Pelt, as well as extended family including the Qureshis’, Richmond’s, and Patterson’s. Marie also leaves many dear friends. Funeral service for Marie will be held Thursday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Bob Stephens officiating. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service.
