Norma Carole Hausch, 86, “Our Queen” went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 with family by her side. She was born in Barnesville, Ohio, where she attended Barnesville High School. Norma has been a long time resident of Barberton, Ohio. She passed away at Pleasant View in Barberton under hospice care. Norma (known as “Tootsie” by her siblings) was born of the greatest generation; however she grew up as a modern woman. She gave birth and raised five children while she worked in a variety of jobs to help support the family. So, you could quite literally say that she “brought home the bacon and fried it up in a pan.” She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She was a tower of strength to her children. She made holidays special on a limited budget there were always gifts under the tree at Christmas, wonderful holiday meals and a supporting shoulder when we needed it. Her humor, wisdom, and love got us all through difficult times. Mom found her professional calling as a nursing assistant where she worked at Barberton Hospital for 25 years, retiring only after overcoming a blood ailment that led to an operation and removal of her spleen. She remained a fun loving person that liked to dance, listen to live country music and attend family functions. Many times she would encourage one of her reluctant children to get out on the dance floor with her where she would break into her own unique version of the jitterbug combined with the twist, the pony and a few other assorted dance steps. To this day all of her children still do the same dance steps much to the embarrassment of Norma’s grandchildren. Norma is survived by her mother, Mrs. Opal Brown who has reached the age of 102. She is also survived by her sisters, Cynthia Hughes and Becky Kaplet; brother, David (Carol) Brown and former husband and lifelong friend, Virgil Carter. In addition she is survived by her sons, Stephen (Brenda) Copeland, David Carter, John (Gina) Carter and daughters, Lou Anne (Joe) Ware and Carole (Ruben) De La Rosa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Kelley, Jeremy Kelley, Kristopher Kelley, Brandi Frey, Adam (Brandi) Copeland, Amy Mote, Tom Putt and Ashlee (Dustin) Schutte. Norma also has many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A few special loved ones that went on before Norma to welcome her home are her father, Charles Sayre; children, Tami Carter and Eddie Carter; friend and companion, William Calvert and grandchildren, Allison Carter, Aaron Carter and Britney Carter. Norma’s funeral service will be held Monday, June 28th at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Faron Cole officiating. Burial at Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until time of service.
