Norman “Norm” G. LaBarre, 65, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023. He was a life resident of the Akron area and was a graduate of Garfield High School, Class of 1976. Norman retired from Gateway Industries with 20 years of service, where he became close friends with his boss, Nick Lekas. Norm enjoyed fishing with his brother, Paul. Preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Vivian LaBarre and sister-in-law, Linda Slater. Norm is survived by the love of his life for 24 years, Cheryl; sisters, Patricia (Audie) Rager and Deborah (David) Long; brothers, Paul and Michael (Tammy) LaBarre; mother and father-in-law, Betty and Harold Gray; sisters-in-law, Terri (Jim) Harris and Robin (Tim) Taylor; brother-in-law, Rick Gray, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton with Pastor James Ellison officiating. Norm’s family will receive friends from 12 Noon until time of his service.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to, Lockwood United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
