Oliver Daniel Waid, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born in Alvon, West Virginia and moved to Norton, Ohio at the age of 19. Oliver was a Navy-certified welder at Babcock and Wilcox where he retired with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers, AFL-CIO, CFL Lodge #900. Preceded in death by his son, Roy Daniel; mom and dad, Sona (Vance) and Edward; six brothers and seven sisters. Oliver is survived by his children, Carol (Jerome) Denton, Kenneth (Dinah) Waid, Kimberly (Rick) Elfrink, Karen Elfrink and Kathryn (Jonny) Supple; grandchildren, Brice Denton, Jeanette (Chris) Gearin, Sona Waid, Kenneth (Laura) Waid, Melissa (Dave) Belkey, Eric (Christin) Fern, Christopher, Kacie and Jason Elfrink, Katrina (Eddie) Goham, Kevin Elfrink, Morgan, Hannah and Gavin Supple; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Oliver was the best dad and grandpa. He would do anything for his family. He was very handy and could fix anything. He was also an avid gardener and always shared his produce. If you ever visited Oliver you would enjoy a good cup of percolated coffee and you never left hungry. A memorial service will be held for Oliver on Thursday, March 24th at 6 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton with Pastor Dan Gregory officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 6 p.m. Inurnment will take place at High Church Cemetery in Doylestown.
