Raelene Pearl Verner, 83 years of age, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Blossom Care Center, Cuyahoga Falls. She was born in Akron, Ohio, to Ray and Loretta Verner. She attended Seiberling, Goodyear Jr. and East High schools. Raelene was the youngest child of six, four sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by all except her dear sister, Patricia, to whom she was especially close, who kept a constant, loving vigil at her bedside near the end. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, who will miss her. They fondly remember spending good times with her, especially when they were young, playing badminton and catch in the yard, coloring, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and walking to the corner store. It was a pleasure spending time with her. Raelene was so good-natured and pleasant and never complained. It was said that she was so kind and generous that she would give the shirt off her back. She kept a beloved pet conure for many years. It gave her joy to watch and feed the birds. She loved all animals, especially kittens and cats. A hobby later in life was making jewelry, which she had a talent for. She was a hard worker at the Newton Provision Store when younger, and later at the Post Office, where she retired after 19 years. In 1976 she was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness and was a member of the Central Akron Congregation. She enjoyed learning about Jehovah God and the Bible’s promises, especially the resurrection, where she looked forward to seeing family members again. Her favorite persons in the Bible were Ruth, Naomi, and Abigail, whose examples she valued. She looked forward to seeing the beauty of the earth as God intended. There will be no calling hours or service.
