Raymond “Ray” Cromley, 77, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was born on October 8, 1943 to the late Sylvester and Glenna Cromley. Ray grew up and lived in Barberton, he graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1961. Ray excelled in baseball throughout his life, playing 13 years of AA Ball as a left handed pitcher and was inducted into the Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991. He received a Purple Heart during his service in the Vietnam War and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ray is survived by his children, Kevin Cromley and Alison Tipple; brother, Charles Cromley; along with extended family, loved ones and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Burke. Ray was passionate about sports, spending time with friends and family, working out in his pristine yard and being the “Life of the Party”. He loved finding and collecting various items and memorabilia. Ray was a true American Picker. Rays’ curious and childlike spirit will be missed but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Ceremony for Ray on Wednesday, October 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. Inurnment with military honors will be held Thursday, October 7th at 10:45 a.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
