Dick, a devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family, on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the age of 87. Dick was born September 17, 1937, in Wadsworth, Ohio to Paul and Eleanor Blocker. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1960 with a B.A. in Education. He belonged to the social fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. Dick taught Science and Biology in the Barberton Public Schools for 8 years. He was also the head baseball coach at Barberton High School. He went on to a career in the medical field, working for 33 years, and completing his professional career as a Senior Service Representative for 3M Pharmaceuticals. Dick always had a passion for fast pitch softball: playing, coaching and managing. He was pleased to be inducted into the Summit County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2016. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 65 years, and his children: Denise Blocker (Chris Longo), Brian (Stephanie) Blocker, and Renee (Terry) Clarkson. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Elliot, Selah and Jax, as well as his sister, Barbara (Bob) Gangloff of Greer, South Carolina, and his 4 nephews. He was surrounded in life by so many other wonderful family members and friends whom he loved dearly. A celebration of life service will be held at the Campfield. Hickman. Collier Funeral Home. 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio on Friday April 11, 2025. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dale Saylor officiating.
