Richard ‘Rich” Monroe Jenkins, 87, has been reunited with the love of his life, Charlene May Jenkins on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Rich was born to George and Imelda Jenkins on May 25, 1938 in Barberton. He was a 1956 graduate of Barberton High School. He married Charlene on November 19, 1960 and they spent the next 63 years in Barberton and most recently in Portage Lakes. He retired from the City of Barberton Water Department. He was a member of the Barberton Elks Club and the First Hungarian Society of Barberton. Rich was an avid golfer with two holes in one, two club championships, and made numerous friends along the course. He served several years on the security committee for the NEC World Series of Golf held at Firestone Country Club. He loved traveling with Charlene, their friends, and his golf buddies, especially the Traveling Wilburys. Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Nancy) Jenkins; daughter, Traci Purk; grandson, Tyler Purk; granddaughter, Ashleigh Darkhorse and great-grandson, Hunter Darkhorse. He is also survived by his special friends Julie Taylor and Dottie Janes. A “Celebration of “Life” will be held for Rich on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Barberton First Hungarian Benefit Society (Hunky Club), 451 W. Park Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203.
