Roger Earl Smith, 80, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022. He was a life resident of Barberton. Roger was a graduate of Norton High School, Class of 1960. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Japan, serving two tours in the Viet Nam War. He retired as a telephone combination repairman and installer. Roger enjoyed fishing, watching the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Preceded in death by his parents, Howard D. Smith and Alpha L. Smith; sister, Marilyn Sue (Tom) Copen; brother, David H. Smith; grandson, Luke McCartney and nephew, John R. Copen. Roger is survived by his daughters, Katherine (Michael) McCartney of Pa. and Nicole Smith; sons, Brian Smith of New York and Erik Smith; sister, Nancy A. (William) Felean of Mineral City, Ohio; brother, Clifford (Paulette) Smith of Marietta; grandson, Kenji Holloway; great-grandson, Kingston Holloway; along with many loved nieces and nephews. Roger’s family will receive friends and family on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203, from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Barberton VFW Post #1066, 85 Sixth Street, N.W., Barberton, Ohio 44203.
