Ronald Lee Clemetson, 82, of Barberton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2026.
Ron was born on June 4, 1944. On September 9, 1967, he married the love of his life, Joyce Baters Clemetson. Together they shared more than 57 years of marriage, raising a family and building a life rooted in faith, love, hard work, and service to others. Joyce preceded him in death in February 2025.
Ron is survived by his children, Darrell (Kristina), Jeremy, and Jennifer (Greg) Fillers; his eight grandchildren, Olivia, Kaylee, Alyssa, Payton, Serenity Nicholas-Gray, Chloe, Paislee, and Jaxson; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Isabelle Ellis.
A devoted Christian, Ron loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Norton Grace Church and his Grace Group. His faith was not something he simply talked about - it was something he lived every day through kindness, humility, and a willingness to serve others.
Throughout his life, Ron worked hard to provide for his family. He had various jobs throughout the Barberton area and spent nearly 30 years serving as a custodian at Barberton Nazarene Church. He finished his career at The University of Akron, where he continued to demonstrate the strong work ethic and dedication that defined his life.
Anyone who knew Ron likely heard his standard response when asked how he was doing: "Good for nothing." It was one of his favorite sayings. Those who knew him best knew it couldn't have been further from the truth.
Ron was good for a lot.
He was good for being a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was good for teaching by example, showing those around him the value of hard work, integrity, faith, and perseverance. He was good for lending a hand when someone needed help and for quietly making the lives of others better without asking for recognition.
Ron will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his humble nature, his unwavering faith, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he loved so deeply.
"Good for nothing," he always said.
The rest of us knew better.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 23, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton, Ohio 44203. Ron’s funeral service will be held Wednesday June 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church with Pastor Aidan Finn officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of her service.
